Marie-Noëlle Ledru is a legendary grower-producer from Champagne’s Montagne de Reims. A fourth-generation winegrower from Ambonnay, she built her reputation on precision, discipline, and an uncompromising focus on Grand Cru Pinot Noir. Her production has always been tiny — and today her bottles are considered truly collectible.
WHERE
The estate is based in Ambonnay with additional vines in Bouzy, both Grand Cru villages. After heritage divisions, the domaine now counts roughly 2.5 hectares: mostly Pinot Noir in Ambonnay and a small parcel of Chardonnay in Bouzy. Since 2016–2017, Marie-Noëlle ended her winemaking activity, meaning no new wines are being produced. Only a small remaining stock exists — making her bottles extremely rare and truly “now or never” to find.
PHILOSOPHY
Ledru worked with minimal intervention: no herbicides, low yields, careful manual work. In the cellar she preferred neutral vessels: mostly enamel-lined steel tanks, with spontaneous malolactic fermentation and absolutely no oak. There was no filtration, no cold-stabilisation, hand disgorgement, and very low or zero dosage. Her goal was purity: letting Ambonnay’s Grand Cru terroir speak with absolute clarity, without make-up.
