La Borderie is a family-run domaine located in Bar-sur-Seine, in the southern part of Champagne’s Côte des Bar. Founded by the Normand family and today led by siblings Simon and Marie Normand, the estate represents a new generation of grower-Champagne producers focused on precision, terroir expression, and sustainable viticulture.
WHERE
The domaine cultivates around 11 hectares of vineyards divided into about 35 micro-plots spread across seven villages surrounding Bar-sur-Seine. The vines grow on Kimmeridgian marl soils typical of the Côte des Bar, offering depth, tension, and minerality to the wines. La Borderie has been certified Haute Valeur Environnementale (HVE) and Viticulture Durable en Champagne, avoiding herbicides and insecticides since 2012, and maintaining biodiversity through hedgerows, orchards, and nesting boxes within the vineyards.
PHILOSOPHY
The Normand family believes in crafting Champagnes that speak truthfully of their origin — expressive, detailed, and transparent. Each plot is vinified separately to preserve its identity, with thoughtful use of oak and carefully managed malolactic fermentation. The style of La Borderie is marked by precision, clarity, and respect for nature, resulting in Champagnes that are both intellectually engaging and effortlessly enjoyable.
