The Brocard family began their Champagne journey in 1932, when Georges Brocard established the estate. Over the generations, it has passed through the hands of Emile, Henri, and Pierre Brocard, with Thibaud taking over in 2012. Today, Thibaud is committed to sustainable and biodynamic viticulture, crafting wines that express the unique character of the Côte des Bar.
WHERE
Champagne Pierre Brocard is crafted in the village of Celles-sur-Ource, located in the Barséquanais area of the Côte des Bar, the southernmost subregion of Champagne. The estate spans 11 vineyards across approximately 12 hectares, organically farmed on Kimmeridgian and Portlandian limestone soils. These terroirs impart longevity and character to Pinot Noir, while adding minerality to Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. Thibaud Brocard emphasizes single-vineyard wines, extended lees aging, and minimal sulfur use, showcasing the complexity and purity of the region.
PHILOSOPHY
Thibaud’s philosophy is simple: a mutual respect between the terroir and the wine. He crafts terroir-driven Champagne, emphasizing single-vineyard vintages and long lees aging for brioche aromas. He prioritizes natural vineyard practices, avoiding synthetic pesticides and relying on biodynamic principles. His style showcases the Côte des Bar terroir using traditional methods, minimal sulfur, and stainless steel fermentation for a complex, expressive wine.
